Andy and I ventured into Washington last weekend to one of our favorite areas. We had a fantastic time.

We found the coolest second hand store.

Last night I did not eat french fries. Let me repeat. Last night, I did not eat fries. I’ve actually been doing better on the mindful eating thing than I thought I would. Last night I got home from the gym, took a shower, and went to hang out with Amy. After playing ski ball and air hockey, we went and had drinks. I had lite beer and no fries. Today I went and swam during my lunch. Tonight I’m going to spin. Maybe I’ll hit my goal after all.

So in an effort to become faster, healthier, and leaner; I’ve decided to drop a few pounds. Normally I keep these decisions to myself. I mean, c’mon. This is a blog, not a diary. I follow Christian’s blog and his post really struck a cord with me. Especially the part about training like a runner. Losing 30 pounds, running with people better than him, and swimming helped him become lighter, faster, and stronger than he’s ever been.
You see, I am slow. I do not run fast. By anyone’s standards. When I see my race photos, I don’t look like I’m running. Seriously. At best, I look like I’m walking fast. I will never be this:
But I can be better than I am now. I’ve had a nice break off after Hagg Lake. Now if I want to run a five hour marathon at Newport Marathon on June 4th. I need to be a lean, mean Aleta machine. Cut back on the junk. Run a lot. Do speedwork. Strengthen the weak muscles, Build the strong ones. And run. A lot. Swimming and spin class will help ensure that I don’t burn out or get injured. So. Here I go.

Andy and I went to go see Crystal Castles last night. Yep. That’s right. On a school night! We had a heavy late lunch and needed a quick bite before heading out to the show. So I made bruschetta.
What’s not to like here? Toasted bread, tomatoes and a bevy of other delicious things. Count me in and I’ll have two please. I went to the trusty Google search bar and looked for bruschetta recipes of which there are thousands. I found one I liked and quickly made the dish.
Interestingly enough bruschetta has been around since the 15th century. It’s a great way to use bread that is about to go stale. You can modify the recipe to suit your taste and what you have on hand.
Our new place is situated in the middle of cat central. Everyone has an outdoor cat. Our neighbor has the sweetest little cat who has this funny little brown mustache. She wants to come into our apartment so bad. But our cats are indoor cats and haven’t had their shots. So she had to stay outside. But that doesn’t stop here from climbing up on the window sill and peering into our apartment.
