Chronicles of me and mine

Happy Birthday Slacker!

November 3, 2008 · 3 Comments

Last week it was my birthday.  I took three days off from work to relax and enjoy myself.  I didn’t really have any planned beyond getting my hair done and cleaning the house.  Yep, I am just that exciting!  Did I mention that I also wanted to sleep in?  Well, I did every day with the occasional wake up at four thirty in the morning to think about odd things.  You know, did I pay this bill or did I call this customer.

Whenever I take time off from work, I make a list of things I want to accomplish.  Here’s my list:

  1. Finish up homework (I didn’t)
  2. Clean house (not so much)
  3. Write a couple of blog posts (not even close)
  4. bake (I did do that!!)
  5. clean out the kitchen cabinets (does one count?)
  6. clean up bedroom (this is different from cleaning the house-not sure why but it is and yes, I sorta did it)
  7. finish book (Yes, I did!)

Now looking at the list, I have to wonder-what did I do for five days? Well, on Wednesday I did stuff and then went and had drinks at 5pm. Not exactly sure what I did but I remember I had pajamas on for most of the day. Here are a few coworkers that showed up at Deschutes for drinks.

On Thursday (my actual birthday) I went and had lunch with a few ladies at Life of Riley. Then I got my hair done. Later that evening Andy and I went to Hopworks. (The food and beer was excellent!)

On Friday, I don’t know what I did. Oh! I accidentally opened my work email and saw the 153 emails in my inbox. Obviously I responded to one or two wondered what the heck I was doing and shut down Outlook. Saturday is a blur of couch and pajamas. I think there was grocery shopping involved. On Sunday, I baked banana bread and corn muffins. I also made two batches of soup: potato & leek for Andy and a spicy Thai soup. Everything came out beautifully.

Now today is Monday. It’s dark, rainy, and cold outside. Boy am I glad I made soup.
